The province of Zambales is
famous with its sweetest mangos, grandest coves, towering mountains, heritage
sites and delicacies but a little wonder is waiting to be discovered, Potipot
Island of Sta. Cruz, Zambales
Potipot island is positioned at
the western part of Sta. Cruz, Zambales. An estimated 6 to 7 hours land travel
via Bus and a 20 minutes boat ride off to the small Island. Hush

To get there, ride a bus bound to
Sta. Cruz, Zambales at Victory Grand Central Terminal (Caloocan) beware of
their schedule. First trip is 4am in the morning.

Unfortunately we missed the first
trip; we patiently waited for the second bus to arrive. Around 6 in the morning
we’re headed north for a two days, one
night barkada getaway.
After an approximately 6 hours
land travel we’ve reached Sta. Cruz, Zambales. Our first goal was to buy food
supplies good for 2 days. Group Contribution
We went to the nearest market to
purchase meat, seasoning, mineral water and a small kettle right after that we’ve
asked the tricycle driver to bring us to the port area.
We rented a small boat for 1
thousand pesos (back and forth) and just in time our foot touches the pristine
white sands of Isla Potitpot!

Upon our arrival, the caretaker
of the said island asked for the registration fee. 150 and 300 pesos for day
and overnight stay respectively. Overnight it is

Without further delay we set up
our tent and cook for our late lunch. In the middle of the island, located the
grilling area and small nipa where tourist can cook and wash their utensils.

Just in time, we shared our foods
and ate graciously while watching the waves touching the white powdery sands of
Potipot. Haven
Right after eating, we jumped
into the water and enjoy the heat of the sun. Summer

During the night we shared a
bottle of alcohol to ease the stress of our city life. An endless “same stories”,
manly trip and the most memorable about this trip was the star gazing and the glowing water and fireflies. Magical

The only girl slept in the tent
while the guys stayed at the sands the whole night till sunrise. So cold

We immediately cooked our
breakfast and shared the remaining foods we had. For one last time, we walked
and took picture around the grandest of Potipot. There's dead trunk of a tree somewhere around the island, a must see and additional attraction.

We called it a day. We changed
clothes near the tree house and waited for our bangkero in the other side of
the Island.

Our bangkero was kind enough to
offer his house and bathroom for us to clean and dry ourselves we paid him with
an additional amount to return his kindness.

According to my research, there’s
a bus schedule bound to Manila, 8 o’clock for air-conditioned. Ordinary buses route are only off to Subic.

We had no choice, we took the ordinary bus headed
in Subic and from there we took the air-conditioned bus by chance passenger off
to Pasay.
Standing
To end this blog entry, I must say I've enjoyed every single moment there with my friends. Potipot island caters an exotic appeal waiting to be seen.

AUTHOR’S NOTE: one of my most memorable travel with my classmates. Wonderful
island beyond compare, a must visit for troop. Summer is not yet over. Consider
Potipot Island as one of your travel destination this month of May.
